The Reserve Bank of India released its list of bank holidays for May 2025, pausing all banking operations on seven dates across multiple states. Customers and businesses should review the schedule to adjust transaction plans and avoid service disruptions.
The RBI-designated holidays for May 2025 are as follows:
- May 1: Maharashtra Din / Labour Day
- May 9: Rabindranath Tagore Jayanti
- May 12: Buddha Purnima
- May 16: State Foundation Day
- May 26: Kazi Nazrul Islam Jayanti
- May 29: Maharana Pratap Jayanti
During these closures, branches will not process withdrawals, deposits, fund transfers or other in-person banking services. Online and ATM services may remain available, but customers should confirm with their bank for contingencies.
Bank holidays apply to all public-sector and most private banks. The observances reflect regional and cultural commemorations and affect core banking in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Karnataka and other jurisdictions.
